A website footer is the band of information (usually arranged into boxes) that sits at the bottom of every page on your website. It’s a great place to put information that you really want people to see and have access to constantly as they move through your website.

There are so many ideas to choose from. The answer ultimately depends on your business and what’s important to your customers, but here are some ideas that you could use:

Your Copyright Information – this should be in EVERY website footer!

This should always be in your website footer, usually right at the bottom and quite small. It often includes a link to the company who built your website.

Your Contact Details

Your website is there so your customers can contact you so please PLEASE make it easy for them to do so. Don’t make them go looking for your telephone number or email address – put it right there on every page in the website footer, clear as day.

A Subscribe Form

This is a great place for a newsletter subscribe form. It’s always available but not nearly as intrusive as the pop-up form (which lots of people absolutely detest). You want a way to contact your website visitors after they leave your site, or else what are you doing all this for anyway?

Social Media Links (also critical that these are in your website footer!)

This goes hand in hand with your contact details and is another great way for people to contact you or keep up to date with whatever it is you’re offering. Don’t make them search – put your social media links out in the open.

Social Media Feeds

Why not showcase your Instagram or Facebook feed, or your latest tweets in your website footer? If visitors can see you’re posting great content, they’ll be more inclined to follow you and interact with you on social media.

A Short ‘About Us’

Do you have an elevator pitch? That’s a short sentence that explains EXACTLY what you do and how you add value. If you don’t, you should write one, and add it to your website footer so people can immediately see why they should choose you.
