Welcome from Brad - FMI CEO
Spring is here and we hope it has brought a welcome jolt of energy to your business! At FMI, we are always on the lookout for innovative ways to bring our clients the best income protection solutions for disability and death. This month, we have been working on a competitor analysis with a difference - rather than simply comparing ourselves to other insurers in the market, we've asked "what makes a great income protection product?" To find out the answer, read this.

Last workshop for the year
Our last adviser workshop for the year will be held over October and early November. We'll be looking at the fundamentals of financial planning, with an emphasis on income protection, as well as the upcoming changes to tax for income protection policies. Join us and receive CPD points for attendance. Speak to your Business Developer for more details or book here.
Have something to say? We want to hear!
Regards, Brad - FMI CEO

Cover and claims with FMI
From daily illnesses to major accidents, we receive a wide range of claims. Want to know who've we covered and paid lately?

Did you know?
While FMI recommends that you cover 100% of your income, some insurers only offer cover for 75%. They also offer claim boosters to deal with this gap. These boosters are designed to increase claim amounts after the first 24 months of claim but only if you are permanently disabled at the highest severity level.
Our claims experience shows that 43% of claims for disability longer than 2 years would not qualify as permanent and therefore would not benefit from a claims booster.
We recently updated our travel terms on FMI Individual policies. This means you can now travel to other countries and claim from other countries without informing us of your intention of travelling.
However, we will only pay claims that occur in foreign countries that are not too risky. Policyholders are welcome to check with us if we view a country as too risky. Read more about our travel terms here.

Stories and surfing
Last month, we sponsored our first Story Sessions event at Ciao Bella in Durban, featuring speaker Tom Hewitt a campaigner for street children and CEO of Surfers, Not Street Children. If you missed out, you can check out the evening's activities here. Hope you can join us next time!

Dressing up for a good cause
This year, Casual Day celebrated 20 years of supporting people with disabilities. The FMI team showed their support by sparkling in line with this year's theme 'Bring out the Bling!'
